Frequently Asked Questions about Auto Insurance
-
Do I Need to Have Auto Insurance?
Michigan law requires an adequate auto insurance policy to operate a motor vehicle. Without proper auto insurance, driving a vehicle is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or one year of jail. Your license can be suspended simply for failing to have proof of insurance.
-
How Much Coverage Do I Need?
Every driver’s needs are unique. Choosing adequate coverage should start by assessing your risks and budget. While it may seem prudent to choose minimum coverage to achieve the lowest premiums, it’s likely to cost you more if you end up in an accident. Give us a call and we’re happy to work with you to find the best options for your needs!
-
What Does No-Fault Coverage Mean?
No-fault insurance is required by law in Michigan. Every owner of a car must buy certain basic coverages. No-fault insurance could pay for your medical expenses, wage loss benefits, replacement services and damage you do to other peoples’ property. It does not matter who caused the accident. You go back to your own policy to get these coverages.

How Can I Lower My Auto Insurance Premiums?
Your auto insurance premiums are affected by many factors such as coverages selected, driving record, age, and the vehicle you drive. The more valuable your vehicle, the higher your premiums. Many of these factors are outside of your control or may be challenging to change.
One of the easiest ways to lower your auto insurance premiums is to find a policy that fits your needs. There’s no need to try and choose a policy on your own – the experts at Iott Insurance are happy to help you find coverage to fit your budget!
